Please see below an update on the recent Management Board meeting:
We welcomed Kate Caddick as new Director on the Regional Management Board. Kate joins us as our new Club Development Committee Chair. This role will have a large focus on the growth and development of our clubs and disciplines, whilst also ensuring that any funding available to clubs is appropriate and effective. There is also a focus on governance and SwimMark/Club Affiliation.
We discussed a new agenda format which focuses on our Operational Plan, which has been developed by Amanda Swan (Regional Operations Manager). This will be how we measure our progress and has the key themes of:
- Governance, Safeguarding & Discipline
- Club Development & Facilities
- Marketing & Communications
- Workforce
- Pathways & Competitions
We will therefore have less reports from the Counties and Disciplines, but matters of concern can still be raised. The reporting will be developed through the Marketing and Communications plan and therefore the County and Discipline reports will have a wider circulation.
We discussed the scope of the Marketing and Communications plan and that we will shortly have access to all 13,000+ members to be able to contact them directly; this was a key recommendation in the Club Culture report. We agreed the Regional Privacy Policy and this will be published on the website in due course.
We discussed coach education and discussed how there is a need to look at education for coaches that are developing participation within clubs that might not end up within the talent pathway. Amanda and Charlotte Osborne (Board Director) are working with Swim England on this.
It was agreed that a Regional Strategy working group is to be set up to progress our key objectives and it is our hope that we link closely to the National Strategy. The Strategy is to be agreed by the Regional Management Board in September.
The Governance Code is to be applied and concluded by December, alongside the County Governance Code.
We agreed our organisational structure for the future, which included some minor tweaks. Please look out for this on the website in due course.
Noted in the Regional Chairs meeting minutes is a planned National conference on EDI.
