Over 7,000 competitors from all over the globe took part in a highly competitive World Masters Championships in Singapore between 7th-14th August 2025.
Three West Midlands swimmers were present: James Wardle, Matt Holland and Kath Tunnicliffe.
Kenilworth’s James Wardle hit the top spots twice with a Silver in the 200m IM (2:18.15) and Bronze in the 200m Freestyle (2:01.03). James was also placed 9th in the 100m Freestyle (55.01) and 50m Butterfly (26.83).

Wolverhampton’s Matt Holland narrowly missed his British Record in the 25-29 yrs 200m Butterfly, achieving a Bronze Medal with a time of 2:09.23. Matt’s other top ten place’s were:
100m Butterfly – 57.89 (8th)
200m IM – 2:16.41 (9th)
400m IM – 4:52.92 (5th)

Kath Tunnicliffe, Black Country n Potteries Masters, 70-74 yrs achieved a series of 4th places in the 200m and 100m Back and 50m and 100m Freestyle before tie-ing for Silver in the 50m Back, with a time of 42.23.

The next World Aquatics Masters is planned for Budapest in 2027, with Beijing earmarked for 2029.
