This is a message to all club who have an interest in volunteering and the programmes being developed by Swim England and the Regions to support the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers. We are aware we need a strong support network to work with us to ensure we can support and encourage clubs to engage in these programmes.
The first programme we are looking to deliver in is the volunteer coordinator approach to recruiting, managing and recognising club volunteers.
We appreciate there has been some confusion in the past about the role of the Volunteer Coordinator and Workforce Coordinators. Swim England has worked with current Volunteer Coordinators and team members who engage with clubs to clarify the purpose of the role and the support needed. This has led to the following:-
- The development of a Volunteer Coordinator starter pack
- The development of a regionally based session for Volunteer Coordinators
- Peer to Peer Networking
- Club wide workshop on the Volunteer Experience
- Accessible recognition resources
We want to encourage ALL Volunteer Coordinators (current and new) to register with Swim England so we can build an accurate and up to date database. The link is below:-

As part of the support of this role, Swim England have created the volunteer coordinator starter pack (as mentioned above). This is a downloadable electronic resource and will be available to all Swim England registered club volunteer coordinators (within the database) on Monday 2nd September 2019.
