National Water Polo Junior Competition – Girls U16 Inter-Regional Competition

Last weekend saw the U16 West Midlands girls in action. For the more experienced girls this competition had been keenly awaited after the cancellations last year. For 6 of the 12 girls this was their first ever experience of playing at this level, but they were well prepared and excited.

The team started a little nervously in the first game but as they grew in confidence they began to  dominate the East Midlands. Holly Clark had an outstanding performance in goal and game ended in and 18-4 win.

Next up was a match against London. There was no slow start in this game as they lead from the first whistle. The final score was 17-7.

The game against Wales was another dominant display to ensure the result was never in doubt. The final score was 25-3.

This meant we went into the final match against the South West as many people favourites. Some decisions not going their way in the middle two quarters really got the crowd and the players fired up for the final quarter. They started a come back that saw them dominate the final quarter. They were upset to have lost 7-8 but this group of girls should be very proud of their performance over the weekend.

The West Midlands team picked up all of the awards in division 2.
