Regional Management Board Director Vacancies

Swim England West Midlands Region have a number of exciting vacancies that have recently opened up; to bring onboard between 3 – 6 new Board Directors. This is an opportunity to join the region during a period of evolution and change, with the release of the regions new 4 year strategy last year, which sees a focus on robust governance, supporting and educating the workforce, improving communication, growing the membership, and strengthening relationships along the pathway. The region is in a period of reviewing the strategy against the newly refreshed Swim England Strategy to ensure alignment and cohesive thinking.

The vacancies available are:

  • Director of Community Development

This role will have a responsibility for membership growth, increasing participation and ensuring our sports are representative of the communities we reside within. Knowledge and experience within this space would be desired.

  • Director of Volunteers

This role will have a responsibility for the training, support and recruitment of volunteers across the sports and our clubs/counties, as having enough people in positions to support our sports effectively is an ongoing challenge for clubs, counties and the region. Knowledge and experience within this space would be desired.

  • Director of Communications

This role will have responsibility for marketing and communications, as one of the 4 key strands within our strategy, we aim to improve the way we communicate with our 4 key audiences: coaches, parents, athletes and volunteers. Whilst also connecting with untapped audiences and communities. Knowledge and experience within the marcomms space would be desired.

  • Director of Coaching

This role will have responsibility for developing and support of the coaching workforce, as one of the 4 key strands within the strategy is focused upon our people, the aim is to support and develop the coaching workforce through training, networks and mentorship. There is also a drive to increase the number of coaches within the region and engage with new and diverse communities we don’t currently engage with to ensure we are reflective of the region’s communities.

  • Director of Equality Diversity and Inclusion

This role will have responsibility for ensuring that the work we do across the region is inclusive, accessible and engages with new and diverse audiences and communities.

  • Director of Welfare and Safeguarding

This role will have responsibility for the crucial area of ensuring our activities, sports, clubs and events are safe spaces for our members, ensuring we have a robust Welfare and Safeguarding action plan in place and clear actions to main progress in this space.

We welcome applications from people who have a passion to drive change and improve our services, as well as an enthusiasm to bring key stakeholders together, motivate them and work in partnership, with the members of the region at the heart of every decision made. Whilst experience working within the aquatic community would be beneficial, we acknowledge that someone from a business, marketing, voluntary, financial or sports background, that may be non-aquatic related, would bring a lot to the table in driving our strategy and ambitions forward.

The role involves forming part of the Board of directors, liaising with Swim England and our regional counties and sub-committees and acting in the best interests of the region. It is key that we find people who can be available to attend and actively participate in meetings and deal with issues that may arise.
