BBC West Midlands recently visited Sandwell Aquatics centre to interview two young divers, Sophie and Stanley who won medals at the Swim England National Skills Competition after qualifying through regional events.

The team also spoke to the Chair, Chris and Head Coach, Nigel around the success of the Birmingham 2022 legacy and the impact the centre has had on the local community.

“We’ve gone from 0 to 100 really quickly” Head Coach Nigel Mills comments, “I would love to take someone who is a Sandwell resident all the way through to the Olympics, whether that is in 4, 8 or 12 years time”.

Chris Jones, the club chair, adds that “there was a lot of hard work and sleepless nights which went in to make sure that this building was delivered”.
