Youth Ambassador Programme: Pilot launch

The West Midlands is launching a pilot initiative involving 6–8 young people aged 14–21, providing them with a unique opportunity to shape the future of aquatic sports. The Youth Ambassador Program will allow participants to gain leadership skills, represent their clubs, and contribute to initiatives in swimming, diving, water polo, and artistic swimming.

What Will a Youth Ambassador Do?

Youth Ambassadors will play a vital role in their clubs and the wider region. They:

  • Represent Their Club: Gather and share feedback from fellow young members to help shape regional projects and decisions.
  • Support Club Committees: Actively participate in club meetings to bring the youth perspective to discussions.
  • Contribute to Regional Projects: Help deliver initiatives that focus on inclusion, mental health, and improving the aquatic experience for all.
  • Develop Leadership Skills: Build valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and advocacy through training and activities.

Benefits for Participants and Clubs

For Participants:

  • Build valuable skills for CVs and future opportunities.
  • Gain recognition as a leader within your club and the region.
  • Contribute to meaningful regional projects.

For Clubs:

  • Empower future leaders to take on greater responsibilities.
  • Improve engagement and inclusivity within the club.
  • Strengthen ties with the aquatic community through youth representation.

If you know someone in your club who has a passion for aquatics, effective communication skills, or leadership potential, encourage them to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Applicants will need the support of their club, so please ensure you read the club guidance document to understand what is required. As part of the application, the primary support member in the club will need to be named.

Young people interested in becoming a Youth Ambassador should either write half a page of A4 or film a short video explaining why they want to join and how they can make a difference. This statement must be uploaded via the application survey, here, by the 23rd February 2025.
