The Midlands Masters Inter-Counties will return on Sunday the 10th November 2024, this time at Sandwell Aquatics Centre!

We are looking forward to welcoming all 9 teams to Birmingham for the Masters Inter-County Championships this Sunday the 10th November, 2024. Below is some information about the day, including parking and warm-up allocations. Please ensure the information is passed onto your teams ahead of time. On the day of the event, if you have any questions or queries, please speak to us on poolside in the timing suite
Venue: Arrival and Parking
Londonderry Lane, Smethwick, West Midlands B67 7EW
We will be sharing on-site parking with the centre members, as well as everyone attending for the event. There will not be enough spaces for all attendees at this event. There is parking available locally, as the venue sits within a residential area, so you can park for free and walk to the venue, which we would recommend doing first to avoid congestion into the venue. There is a path through the back of the site via Manor Road, so you can park on that side of the building and walk through. If you can, please consider car sharing. Park responsibly and respectfully.
Upon arrival, walk to the front doors of the building (facing Londonderry Lane), where you will see the pool through the windows straight ahead of you. Turn right, to the reception desk, and go through the glass barrier. Go down the stairs, left, and along the corridor into the changing rooms. The centre sometimes separates the swimming lesson changing from the events changing, so please check any relevant signage upon entry to the changing rooms.
Poolside and Seating
On poolside, teams will be sat around the 2 x 25m pools. The Diving pit will be closed off for lessons.
Swimmers may bring camping and fold up chairs to use on poolside. There will be some benches and chairs available but not enough for everyone in attendance. Teams may also use the stands for seating, this is accessed by a set of stairs from poolside. We will not assign teams seating prior.
We will have a handful of volunteers in attendance to support the day. As with all masters events, we will not be marshalling as done in age group, however we will have 1-2 volunteers with the start sheets to support you getting to the right event.

Lanes have been spearhead seeded based on last years’ results:
L0 – (empty)
L1 – Northamptonshire
L2 – Derbyshire
L3 – Staffordshire
L4 – Warwickshire
L5 – Nottinghamshire
L6 – Leicestershire
L7 – Worcestershire
L8 – Shropshire
L9 – Lincolnshire
Warm-up and swim down
Warm up will start at 12:00, and end at 12:30.
Comp pool: Under 55s
Non-comp pool: Over 55s
Starts in lane 0 of the comp pool throughout (all ages).
Starts in lanes 0, 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 of the comp pool for the last 10 minutes (all ages), more if needed.
Swim down pool is open throughout. No fins in either pool please.
Food and drink
Sandwell have a café on-site selling hot and cold food and drink. Please don’t take hot drinks onto poolside.
